We recommend lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or moisture-wicking materials in neutral tones think khaki, olive, tan, or brown as these help you stay cool and avoid attracting unwanted attention from wildlife (or insects!).

Long-sleeved shirts and long pants are highly recommended, not only for sun protection but also to shield you from mosquitoes and brush when walking. For game drives, layers are your best friend: early mornings and evenings can be surprisingly cool, while midday temperatures can rise quickly. Pack a warm fleece or jacket for those chilly dawn and dusk outings, and a lightweight rain jacket during the wetter seasons.

Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes or lightweight boots are ideal, especially if you’re joining a walking safari. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are must-haves to protect you from the strong African sun.

Don’t forget practical accessories: binoculars for wildlife spotting, a camera with extra memory cards, a small backpack, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. We also recommend avoiding bright colors and patterns, as well as dark blues or blacks, which can attract tsetse flies in some regions.
