« Our paths crossed on the road. He had just come back from guiding a group on Kilimanjaro. With a warm and genuine smile, he started a friendly conversation nothing forced, just human connection.
A few days later, over coffee, Bryson opened up and told me his story.
I want to share it with you because he’s too humble to use big words or praise himself the way he truly deserves.
He didn’t speak like a hero. He spoke simply, with a quiet strength and humility that instantly touched me.
He told me about his childhood, how he was raised by his aunt in difficult conditions. After completing Form Four, he couldn’t collect his certificate ,his family couldn’t afford the school fees. To survive, he sold fruits in the local market, but it was never enough to build a future.
Then, thanks to his kindness and warm way with people, one of his customers offered to help him take a step forward.
That’s how he started working as a porter on Mount Kilimanjaro. It was tough physically and emotionally but every step he took helping others reach the summit also brought him closer to his own dreams. He never gave up.
He saved money, went back to school, and became a certified mountain guide at the prestigious College of African Wildlife Management in Mweka.
The Heart Behind African Landscape Adventures
What struck me most wasn’t just how far he had come but how deeply he remembered where he started. That’s why, having once been a porter himself, he’s deeply committed to fair pay and genuine respect for everyone he works with. I once asked him, “Where did you learn German and why?” He smiled and said, “During the pandemic. I taught myself so I could connect better with my guests.” Because for him, every guest matters. Every story matters. “I want every guest to have the best experience possible. This isn’t just business for me it’s about sharing the beauty of Tanzania and the good energy it brings. I’m passionate about what I do, and my greatest joy is passing that passion on to others.”
Oh and before I forget: 2% of every client’s payment goes directly to support local orphanage centers. A simple way for Bryson to give back, out of gratitude for what he’s lived…
So, if you’re looking for a safari that’s real, prepared with care and heart, If you want a guide who truly knows what he’s talking about and shares it with passion and feeling, If you value warm smiles and genuine kindness don’t hesitate. And after your journey, when you think back to this story, I believe you’ll say:“She was right. I get it now.” and you’ll recommend Bryson too.
Feel it. Live it!
